Athens bourse adds 1.28 pct

Buying in blue chips helped to push the Athens bourse back over the 2,200-point mark, with gains on European markets helping to boost sentiment. The Athens bourse’s benchmark general index added 1.28 percent to 2,213.49 points. The blue chip FTSE/ATHEX 20 index increased 1.45 percent to 1,133.09 points. Alpha Bank jumped 4.12 percent to 8.59 euros and OTE telecom also outperformed, gaining 5.35 percent to 10.64 euros. OPAP’s woes continued as the shares fell 1.04 percent to 16.18 euros, bringing losses over the last week to 14 percent. The company admitted earlier this week that it may miss annual targets due to a recently introduced tax on games. Turnover reached 188.9 million euros versus 229 million euros previously.
