Economy czars swap ideas amid crisis
Economy and Finance Minister Yiannis Papathanassiou (left) appeared to be getting some tips from his predecessor Giorgos Alogoskoufis yesterday. The two were attending the inauguration of an Hellenic Postbank branch in central Athens. The lender has renovated its 145 branches in the last 18 months by adding ATMs and displaying its corporate logo across its entire network. The bank is expected to open another branch in Thessaloniki next week, upping its branch number to 146. Shares in Hellenic Postbank, which has a market value of 1.4 billion euros, fell 1.40 percent to 4.93 euros on the Athens bourse yesterday. The government currently holds 44 percent of the bank.
