The government and Piraeus Bank president Michalis Sallas (right) announced yesterday a program of investment in environmentally friendly growth totaling 1.5 billion euros. Environment Minister Tina Birbili (left) and Economy Minister Louka Katseli (center) suggested that the program, which will be jointly funded by the public and private sectors and the European Union, will include projects for the modernization of industrial zones (500 million euros) and the creation of ‘green industrial zones’ where companies active in environmentally friendly entrepreneurship can relocate (440 million euros). Ten Integrated Environmental Business Parks will also be created on islands (560 million euros). The program will create 12,000 jobs, said Sallas.
