Nikiforos Diamandouros…

Nikiforos Diamandouros, shortly after being elected by the European Parliament as the EU’s new ombudsman, in Strasbourg yesterday. Diamandouros, a 60-year-old professor of political science, was appointed Greece’s first ombudsman in 1998. Prime Minister Costas Simitis and opposition leader Costas Karamanlis hailed his election.
