In a meeting in Berlin yesterday, German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder accepted a proposal by visiting Athens 2004 chief Gianna Angelopoulos-Daskalaki to set up a joint committee to advance a common European message for the 2004 Games, the Turin Winter Olympics and the soccer World Cup in Germany in 2006. The 2004 president said 2,000 Germans would work as volunteers in the Athens Olympics.
