Germany: Sponsors
Germany pioneered the evaluation of tertiary education institutes in the early 1990s, and then made it obligatory for the whole country by decree in 1998. The results are already visible; most universities began in 1995 and finished the six-year process in 2001, or for some as early as 1999. At the same time, incentives are provided for improvement, with six German universities being sponsored every year by firms so that they can improve upon the services they offer. The money is used to develop marketing, business administration, management and public relations courses.
