Greece begins rollout of new Covid-19 vaccination campaign

Greece on Monday began its autumn Covid-19 vaccination campaign, rolling out new bivalent boosters targeting the Omicron BA.4/BA.5 subvariants.

The government offers the vaccine to everyone aged 60 and over, as well as front-line health care workers and other groups considered to be particularly at risk of serious illness.

The bivalent vaccines are distributed as a booster shot which means that the older vaccines are still required as the primary series.

Experts agree they should be administered between three to six months since the last booster or last coronavirus infection.
