Suspect arrested for pulling firearm on officers during police operation in Athens

Police have arrested a 25-year-old foreign national who allegedly pulled out a firearm on officers inside a nightclub in Athens during the early hours of Sunday. The incident occurred during a police operation that involved inspections at a total of 14 stores, during which 20 individuals were inspected, with four brought in for questioning.

According to reports, the 25-year-old suspect attempted to escape when the police entered a store with the aim of checking customers who were deemed suspicious. The police managed to subdue the suspect, who had a firearm tucked into his waistband and had attempted to draw it. A pistol with a magazine of seven bullets and a pair of gloves with a bone lining were found and seized during the body search.

Further investigation led to a search of the suspect’s residence, where a hunting rifle, an air gun, a bat, 29 bullets, and four blowback gas bottles were found and seized.

The suspect will be brought before a prosecutor to face charges related to the incident.
