Eight arrests after clashes between soccer fans

Police said on Saturday morning that eight people were arrested after violent clashes between soccer fans on Friday afternoon in the area of Seismoplykta in Ioannina, northwestern Greece.

The people involved in the incident are aged between 19 and 30, and four of them ended up in hospital. Two were hospitalized under guard.

A 30-year-old man was reportedly in critical condition and was being treated in the ICU of the local university hospital. Three more persons involved in the case have been identified and are wanted by the police.

Footage of the incident that was recorded by a security camera shows three cars blocking the road to another vehicle. The occupants of the three cars then got out and attacked four people in the vehicle that was immobilized.

A police search of the area yielded a metal pipe, a plastic torch cap and a full-face hood, while three cars were seized.
