Cyprus: Investigation into planned attacks against Israelis

Two Iranian citizens were arrested in November in Cyprus after allegedly planning attacks against Israelis, reported Kathimerini Cyprus on Sunday.

The two persons in question, for whom there is a deportation warrant, targeted Israeli citizens living in Cyprus and were likely connected to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). They are currently detained in Cypriot police custody.

This is the third incident in the last two years, bringing Cyprus back to the forefront of terrorist attacks, Kathimerini Cyprus understands.

The first one was two years ago with the arrest of an Azerbaijani citizen holding a Russian passport, who was likely related to the IRGC, and the second took place last June, preventing a possible attack within Cypriot territory.

It is noted that Cyprus is a popular destination for thousands of Israelis, as the two countries are closely connected with 40-minute flights.
