No arrests in police raid on occupied Igoumenitsa dorm

An early morning raid on Tuesday by police on a student dormitory at the Technical College of Igoumenitsa, in northwestern Greece, which has been under occupation for the past three years by anti-establishment groups, failed to lead to any arrests.

Officers who stormed the premises at 6 a.m. found only an Albanian family of four who were in the country illegally and who were staying at the squat.

They also found banners and other paraphernalia used in anti-government protests.

A patrol has been set up around the building to prevent the squatters from returning.
