Athens lawyers to join general strike on Wednesday
The Athens Bar Association on Friday called on the capital’s lawyers to join a 24-hour strike that the country’s two main labor unions have planned for February 23.
The association said its members would be joining the action to protest reforms aimed at opening up their sector to competition as part of a broader government drive to liberalize so-called «closed professions» and boost competitiveness in the economy.
The walkout is also aimed at expressing solidarity with striking workers, the association said.
