Bomb targets health minister’s office

Police were sent to the building housing the political office of Health Minister Andreas Loverdos in central Athens on Friday afternoon when the office became the target of a gas canister bomb attack.

The homemade explosive device caused no injuries and only minor damage when it detonated shortly before 6 p.m.

The bomb, which comprised three gas canisters, had been planted outside the door of Loverdos?s first-floor office in the building on Apollonos Street near Syntagma Square. The health minister had not been in his office at the time of the explosion.

Police gave no details about the suspected perpetrators behind the attack.
