Roads will close, but museums will open

Central Athens will be closed off to traffic on March 24 and 25 to make way for school and military parades marking the March 25 anniversary of the start of the Greek War of Independence in 1821.

Roads in and around Syntagma Square will be closed on March 24 as of 9 a.m. for the students? parade that sets off at 10 a.m., while on March 25 closures will start at 6 a.m. in and around Kolonaki for a service at Dionysiou Areopagitou Church, and at 6.30 a.m. in and around Syntagma for the military parade, which begins at 11 a.m.

Meanwhile, the Culture Ministry has announced that all state-run museums, archaeological sites and monuments will be open on March 25 from 8.30 a.m. to 3 p.m. and that admission will be free of charge. They will, however, be closed on Monday, March 28.
