Firefighters tackle six wildfires in Iraklio area of Crete
The fire service had to contend with six wildfires around Iraklio, Crete, on Tuesday.
The worst of the blazes is in the area of Stavrakia, where it has approached homes. Some roads in the area have also been closed due to thick smoke.
Some 40 firefighters and 12 vehicles are taking part in the operation to put out the blaze.
The other fires are in the areas of Athanatoi, Vasilies, Anisara, Tobrouk and the Iraklio industrial zone.
