Marfin branches to close on firebombing anniversary

All branches of Marfin Egnatia Bank will be closed on Thursday as employees mark the first anniversary of the death of three fellow workers at a branch on Stadiou Street in central Athens, which was firebombed during an anti-austerity rally.

Paraskevi Zoulia, 35, Epaminondas Tsakalis, 36, and 32-year-old Angeliki Papathanasopoulou, who was four months pregnant, died of asphyxiation after assailants smashed the bank?s windows and threw Molotov cocktails inside.

Four people questioned over the weekend in connection to the firebombing have been given until Friday to make their depositions.
