Police shooting suspect named, linked to guerrilla group

Police identified on Friday the 21-year-old student detained following Wednesday?s shooting in northern Athens that left two officers seriously injured as Theofilos Mavropoulos.

A police spokesman said fingerprints found in two hideouts linked to the Conspiracy of the Cells of Fire urban guerrilla group matched those of Mavropoulos.

Police said it was Mavropoulos who fired the Glock pistol recovered from the scene of Wednesday?s shooting in Pefki. A second suspect remained at large yesterday.
