Ex MPs seeking pay hikes may be named
Justice Minister Haris Kastanidis said on Wednesday that he did not object to the publication of the names of dozens of retired MPs who are trying to claim a combined total of some 80 million euros in back pay and pension payments.
?I do not have any objection to the names being made public,? Kastanidis said, noting however that he did not have the list of the deputies in question and that only the Council of Audit had those details.
The former lawmakers are basing their legal action on a law passed in 2008 which ruled that MPs should receive equal pay to the salaries of the country?s top judges.
