Cyclists to be allowed in bus lanes

A pilot program that takes effect on Monday will allow cyclists to use the capital?s bus lanes.

The program, which is to run until September 18, is aimed at granting cyclists more freedom on the city?s traffic-choked roads.

Due to safety concerns though, the Transport Ministry has appealed to all cyclists using bus lanes to keep to the right-hand side of the lane at all times, not to make sudden maneuvers without indicating and to wear protective gear as well as fluorescent clothing at night.
