German court to hear Greece bailout case
Germany?s highest court will start hearing a lawsuit on Tuesday against the bailout of debt-ridden eurozone countries, including Greece. The Karlsruhe-based Constitutional Court is hearing the case filed by a group of German Euroskeptic academics who say that the creation of rescue packages for Greece, Portugal and Ireland are a violation of the European Union?s no-bailout clause. The court is not expected to deem the bailouts illegal but is likely to set conditions that will make it more difficult for the German government to push through emergency loans in the future.
