PASOK MP attacked by angry mob
An angry crowd mobbed Nikos Tsonis, a member of ruling PASOK, in his constituency of Lamia in central Greece on Saturday, protesting at his decision to vote for the government?s austerity program in Parliament last week.
Tsonis was attacked in the street by angry demonstrators who pelted him with yogurt and eggs while some punched and kicked him.
Before casting his vote last week, Tsonis had suggested that locals had pressured him ahead of the ballot. Several other PASOK MPs are said to have received threats since the vote.
