Mosquito drive yet to begin

Authorities in northern Greece have yet to launch programs aimed at wiping out mosquitoes carrying the potentially fatal West Nile virus that caused the deaths of dozens of people last summer, it has emerged.

Outbreaks of the virus were reported in western Macedonia several weeks ago but areas deemed to be high-risk have yet to be sprayed with special chemicals due to delays in launching the tenders for the projects.
