Police believe Keratsini thief linked to prior robbery
A 34-year-old Russian man arrested on Wednesday on charges of being part of a gang of four that conducted a robbery on a post office in Keratsini, near Piraeus, earlier in the day, is believed by investigating officers to be linked to a previous robbery, of a bank in the village of Aspra Spitia in Viotia on February 11, according to a report on Friday.
At the time, the robbery prompted a massive mobilization of the police, as it was thought to be the work of Vassilis Palaiocostas, a criminal who is still at large after escaping from Korydallos Prison on February 22, 2009, and who is believed to be behind at least two other bank robberies.
