University sit-ins climb to 301; textbooks still lacking

The number of university departments and schools closed by students protesting a recent law reforming tertiary education rose to 301 on Thursday, with student groups vowing to escalate their action and to turn up in high numbers for the prime minister?s keynote speech at the Thessaloniki International Fair this weekend.

Meanwhile, schoolteachers have also been threatening action over a persistent shortage of textbooks after the Education Ministry earlier this week asked them to deal with the problem by using photocopies or visual material related to the curriculum.
