Vatopedi lawyer posts bail

Dionysis Pelekis, a lawyer accused of involvement in the property exchange scandal involving the Vatopedi Monastery on Mount Athos, was freed after posting 70,000 euros in bail on Friday.

Pelekis, the father of notary Katerina Peleki, who is married to former New Democracy minister Giorgos Voulgarakis, another person implicated in the affair, was released following his deposition before appeals court magistrate Eirini Kalou.

Meanwhile, Ephraim, the monastery?s former chief monk, and Arsenios, Vatopedi?s former financial manager, are expected to give their depositions by October 13.
