Five armed raids in five hours

Police in Attica on Friday reported a string of five armed raids within the space of five hours in different parts of the greater Athens area.

The first raid took place at around 11 p.m. on Thursday when two robbers held up a patisserie, in an eastern suburb of Athens.

Another raid on a bakery in nearby Aghios Dimitrios is believed to have been the work of the same pair.

At around the same time in Pallini, east of Athens, two gunmen are reported to have held up a fast-food store.

In the early hours of the morning, two men in a stolen car held up a gas station in Peristeri, eastern Athens, before holding up a nearby street kiosk.

No injuries were reported.
