Wind fuels large blaze in Vari
A large firefighting contingent was dispatched on Saturday to contain a blaze that broke out in a patch of forest land in Vari, south of Athens, close to the SOS childrnen’s hostel.
A total of 10 fire engines were sent to the scene of the blaze which was being fueled by strong winds.
By early afternoon the fire had not spread and was not threatening the SOS center or nearby residential areas.
