Samos storm causes extensive damage
Streets, homes, shops and hotels suffered extensive damage during a strong, four-hour downpour on the southeastern Aegean island of Samos on Tuesday night, while volunteers helped pull a man and his passengers out of a car trapped in a flooded stream.
Samos Deputy Mayor Giorgos Stantzos said he would be making a bid to the local council to deem the island in need of emergency assistance.
