Massive cash surprise for retirement home

A municipal retirement home in the city of Larissa in Thessaly that was on the brink of closing down due to lack of funding on Friday learned that it was set to inherit the whopping amount of 2 million euros as well as a real estate portfolio containing around 30 apartments, Skai reported.

The bequest was made by a former resident of the home, who died in March at the age of 80.

Harikleia Christodoulou-Trandou had inherited her significant fortune from her two brothers, former building contractors in Larissa who also died within the past two years.

The money had been deposited by the woman in an account belonging to the Larissa Retirement Home at Hellenic Postbank.
