‘Hit man’ caught over father-son murder

A 29-year-old Albanian and a 49-year-old Greek were being questioned over the weekend in connection with the brutal killing of a 35-year-old Albanian and his 2-year-old son earlier this month.

Police believe the 29-year-old to be a hired gun acting on the orders of the Greek man, who allegedly runs a drug and extortion racket in the Peloponnesian region of Messinia, while he is also suspected of committing another murder in 2008.

The bodies of the father and son were discovered in a car in a ditch outside Kalamata.

The father had been shot in the head and the toddler had his throat slashed.
