Rectors persist against reform

The rectors of the University of Athens and the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Theodosis Pelegrinis (photo) and Simos Simopoulos, wrote to Premier Lucas Papademos for the second time this month on Tuesday in a bid to convince him to meet them to discuss the tertiary education reform law passed earlier this year.

Both rectors suggest the new rules should be re-examined.

They pointed to the fact that universities have appealed to the Council of State, the country?s highest administrative court, in a bid to have the reforms deemed unconstitutional.
