Young migrant dies of suffocation

A young Afghan man, one of a group of three believed to be aged 15-20, died on Tuesday after suffocating in the cab of an abandoned truck in the western port city of Patra.

The three undocumented migrants had sought shelter in the truck, which was parked in a disused factory.

According to police, who questioned the two survivors in hospital, they had lit a small fire in a tin can to stay warm when the cab began to fill up with smoke. One of the three youths died of smoke inhalation before the other two could open the doors or windows.
