Smugglers detained
A 27-year-old Turkish national and suspected people smuggler was being treated for a gunshot wound to the leg in an Alexandroupoli hospital on Monday following a shootout with police near the border with Turkey.
Officers detained a second Turk, aged 25, and a group of 31 undocumented migrants. The two men were spotted trying to smuggle migrants over the Evros River.
