Fugitive arrested on rape charges
A 46-year-old prison fugitive was arrested in the central Athens neighborhood of Votanikos on Sunday on suspicion of placing job ads so he could lure women to rape them.
Police said the man placed notices on street lamps advertising vacant positions and lured at least two women to a remote area in Skaramanga, west of Athens, where he raped them at knife-point.
The suspect failed to return to Malandrino Prison after being given a 10-day furlough in April. He had been serving a 25-year sentence for attempted murder and other crimes.
