Minister jeered at, city officials floured

An informal meeting between Development Minister Michalis Chrysochoidis and party supporters in the Piraeus neighborhood of Korydallos Thursday drew the attention of a small crowd of anti-austerity protesters.

The group gathered outside the venue where the minister, who is a challenger for the presidency of PASOK, was meeting with political allies. They began chanting slogans and barbs aimed at the politician, in the latest display of public anger at the government?s austerity measures.

In the town of Kalamata in the southern Peloponnese, meanwhile, a young woman threw a bag of flour at city officials presiding over a religious parade in the city center, while other bystanders hurled insults at them.
