Prosecutor extends ‘secret fund’ probe
Financial prosecutor Grigoris Peponis on Monday extended his probe into undocumented payments by the Foreign Ministry to cover the period 2009 onward.
He is currently investigating expenses paid by the ministry between 2004 and 2007.
In October last year, the leader of the Coalition of the Radical Left (SYRIZA), Alexis Tsipras, claimed unrecorded payments by the Foreign Ministry had gone more than 200 percent over budget between 2009 and 2011.
Tsipras claimed the ministry received 185 million euros during those three years for its ?secret fund.?
