School pupils scuffle with police

Scuffles broke out between police and school pupils protesting government austerity measures in Athens and Crete, while one teenager was taken into custody.

High school pupils gathered for the fourth day in a row on Friday in Eleftherias Square in Iraklio, Crete, and marched through the city before ending up back in the square, where a group threw rocks at police officers.

A 13-year-old boy was arrested.

In Athens too, protesting students threw rocks and other objects at riot squads posted outside Parliament, who dispersed the protest with tear gas.
