Director of Greek descent gets Oscar
Alexander Payne, an American director of Greek descent, won the Oscar on Sunday for adapted screenplay for his family drama ?The Descendants,? which starred George Clooney playing a land baron trying to reconnect with his two daughters after his wife?s injury in a boating accident.
Payne, who also directed the film and shared the award with co-writers Nat Faxon and Jim Rash, previously won the same award for the 2004 comedy-drama ?Sideways.?
