Pharmacists warn of medicine shortages
Over 250 medicines are in short supply at Greek pharmacies, Attica Pharmacists Association head Costas Lourantos warned on Thursday, and these including psychotropic medications, children?s vaccines, basic antibiotics and cancer drugs.
Lourantos attributed the shortage to the Health Ministry?s drive to slash spending on medicine and to increase the number of generic drugs that are prescribed, a move that has earned the wrath of pharmacists? unions, which have organized strikes and other protest action.
