Woman gives birth midair in army chopper
An air force helicopter pilot on Thursday became a surprise godparent after a 33-year-old woman being transported from the Aegean island of Sifnos to an Athens hospital gave birth mid-flight.
The baby boy was born early on Thursday some 8 nautical miles off the coast of Syros, where the chopper was heading after the pilot realized his charge would give birth well before reaching Athens.
Both mother and son are in good health and are being monitored by the Syros hospital.
