Armed robber detained by DIAS officers in Piraeus
A 43-year-old man was to face a Piraeus prosecutor on Tuesday after being stopped by members of the police?s motorcycle-riding DIAS unit shortly after holding up a local supermarket using a knife.
Officers confiscated the proceeds of the robbery and the knife from the suspect, who allegedly admitted to carrying out another two raids on supermarkets in Halandri, northeastern Athens, and the affluent northern suburb of Vrilissia in the past two weeks.
