Minister to discuss immigrant centers with local officials
Citizens? Protection Minister Michalis Chrysochoidis is due to meet regional officials at noon on Monday to discuss more effective ways of tackling illegal immigration.
In a statement, the ministry said that the purpose of the talks would be to agree on ?strategic planning? to address the matter.
Chrysochoidis unveiled plans last week to turn a disused military camp near Kozani, northern Greece, into a reception center for undocumented migrants.
Locals expressed opposition to the scheme but Chrysochoidis intends to use more abandoned army camps to house migrants and is set to discuss this with regional officials on Monday.
