Bid to send dead Pakistanis home

Members of Greece?s Pakistani community are seeking to raise money to send home the bodies of two Pakistani men who died last Friday while trying to save an elderly couple from a car trapped on a railway track in Kryoneri, north of Athens.

Hamayun Anwar, 18, and Wakar Ahmed, 32, had tried to rescue the pair from their car but all four were killed by an oncoming train.

Pakistanis gathered to pray for the two men in Athens on Monday as relatives and friends try to gather 3,500 euros to send their bodies home. For those interested in contributing, an account has been set up at National Bank under the number 662/610130-57 and the name Nadeem Qaiser Latif.

Both men were from the same village in Pakistan?s Gujrat district. The elder had been in Greece for eight years and worked as gardener and the younger arrived two years ago and worked as a carpenter, sources said.
