Immigrant group reps talk holding centers with minister
Representatives of 17 immigrant communities who met on Monday with Citizens? Protection Minister Michalis Chrysochoidis (photo) to discuss the latest moves to combat illegal immigration agreed that reception centers should be built, according to ministry sources.
The two sides agreed that members of the community would be allowed to inspect the centers to ensure that migrants will be treated humanely.
The representatives also supported the idea of increasing the scope of the voluntary repatriation scheme offered by the government.
