Two unlicensed dentists arrested in Athens
Two suspects running an unlicensed dentistry practice were arrested on Thursday after police and financial crimes officers, acting on a tip-off, raided their Athens premises.
The two suspects, a man aged 27 and a woman aged 34, both Georgian nationals, allegedly treated hundreds of patients at the premises without having any of the requisite training or licenses to practice dentistry.
Police raided the premises after receiving an anonymous complaint on the 11012 hotline, set up to receive claims of financial crimes.
Their subsequent investigation revealed seven notebooks containing lists, written in Georgian, of names and dates, as well as of large quantities of money received from unsuspecting patients. Police also found 80 business cards and a notebook featuring the fraudsters’ professional logo, as well as 800 euros in cash.
