Venizelos appeals for Ago deportation intervention

The leader of socialist PASOK, Evangelos Venizelos, on Sunday sought to intervene in the case of Albanian journalist Niko Ago (photo), who faces deportation from Greece despite having worked in the country for the past 20 years.

In a posting on his Twitter account, Venizelos said he had contacted Citizens? Protection Minister Lefteris Economou and asked him to ?exhaust all possible means at his disposal? to ensure that Ago is not deported.

Ago faces deportation after being notified last Friday that he had not worked enough hours in 2007 and 2008 to qualify for a residence permit.
