More arrests for debts to the state
Police on Tuesday arrested a 67-year-old woman in Loutraki, near Corinth, in connection with an unpaid tax bill of 2.7 million euros. In Argos, in the Peloponnese, another two Greeks were detained for smaller arrears.
A 57-year-old was taken in on Monday over a sum of 152,450 euros and a 41-year-old for withholding 45,600 in value-added tax.
Figures released on Monday revealed that a total of 502 people were arrested on charges of tax evasion between last November and May this year over debts of some 922 million euros.
