One policeman dies, another is injured in crash
One policeman of the DIAS rapid-response unit died on Tuesday and his partner is being treated for serious injuries, after their motorcycle was hit by a pick-up truck whose driver ran a stop sign in a Roma settlement in Ano Liosia, northwest of Athens.
The driver of the pick-up truck was trying to evade a police patrol when he raced through a stop sign, slamming into the oncoming DIAS motorcycle, killing the driver instantly and injuring his partner.
The perpetrator remained at the scene of the crash and was taken into custody.
