Savvas Xeros set for 5-month prison leave

A Piraeus court on Thursday handed convicted November 17 member Savvas Xeros a 5-month release from prison in order for him to undergo treatment at a Thessaloniki health facility.

Following the court?s decision Xeros will be treated at the AHEPA hospital under police guard. According to sources, Xeros will apply for release after his treatment comes to an end.

Xeros was one of three siblings convicted for participating in the terrorist group?s activites 10 years ago. He was sentenced to serve five consecutive life sentences plus an additional 25 years for taking part in five assasinations and robberies, among other criminal activities.

The November 17 group was active from 1975 to 2002, and was responsible for the deaths of 23 people.
