Xenios Zeus figures rising

A total of 889 migrants were temporarily detained by police forces in downtown Athens on Tuesday as part of the ongoing Xenios Zeus operation aimed at curbing illegal immigration.

According to a statement released by Greek police on Wednesday, Tuesday?s operations led to the arrest of 236 people on charges of illegal resident status.

So far, the total number of immigrants questioned by policemen within the Xenios Zeus framework is 20,258 people, out of whom 2,442 were arrested.
